General Information:

The Arkansas Tin Lizzies Model T club is a local chapter of the Model T Ford Club of America. The club was chartered and incorporated in the state of Arkansas in 2005.

The Arkansas Tin Lizzies Model T Club was formed with a vision to locate current Model T owners in our state, and motivate them to become involved with others in the hobby. If the members and their family become motivated with the hobby and the club, then they will be active in functions such as meetings and touring as a group in the cars.

With such a large area to cover, it was decided that the club would create four different zones to accommodate the current membership in travel to meetings and assist the members in finding others in their area who own Model T vehicles. Each zone has an elected officer who presides as chairperson in their zone with the responsibility of coordinating area meetings and driving tours. The club meets as a group every three months in a different zone thus allowing all the members to have at least one meeting reasonably close to their hometown.

The club strives to preserve and promote the Model T Ford for future generations by educating people of all ages in the history, lore and skills of maintenance of the car that put America on wheels. The annual membership fee is $10.00 per family.

While we don’t require our members to join the MTFCA, we do encourage them to consider the benefits of membership in the national program.

Presidents Message Volume 6, Number 1

I would like to give a big “thank you” to Bill Payne and all of the board members that served during 2009.  We had some highs and lows during the year.  The highs of course were the tech sessions and touring.  The low was losing a charter member of our club, Bill Younkin.  We were fortunate that the club was together in the area and was able to attend his funeral to give him his final ride in a Model T.

Nellie and Bill did it again.  They continue to amaze me with their vision in planning the technical sessions.  They also provided an excellent lunch.  Thanks Bill, Nellie and the river valley gang.  The attendance was down due to the near blizzard conditions all across the state. We had an excellent discussion on measurements and assembly of a short block.  We of course missed the input of Fred Houston, but Mike Bender and Ben Hardeman provided a lively discussion and presentation.  Earl Zechiedrich gave an interesting discussion on electricity, current flow, transformers, electromagnets, capacitors and the Model T magneto.  I am not sure that he persuaded anyone to scrap their distributors and go back to the Model T coils.

The tours for 2010 are being planned and it will be an interesting year.  The planning is underway for the Dogwood Tour in Eureka Springs.  We are working with the Tulsa Model T Club again this year and have some interesting areas to visit.

We are planning two progressive tours this year.  One by Bill and Nellie in June and one by Joe and Betty Jeffers in October.  The routes of both tours will be on the web page as soon as the details are completed.

We hope to see everyone in Eureka Springs for the Dogwood Tour in April.

Frank Cook, President
